Muar District is located in the northwestern state of Johor, Malaysia. Muar town better known as the Maharani or Tangkak City. Muar borders the state of Melaka (Sungai Rambai) in the north, in the east district of Segamat and Batu Pahat district in the south. The word 'Muar' is believed to come from the mouth. Another possibility is that it is derived from the Hindu word "Muna" and "Ar" are each meant three and rivers, illustrate the Muar River that flows through the city and is also the longest river in Johor.
